NB PROBIO-U Complex Powder

Prevent the growth of urinary tract pathogens and combat urinary tract infections.

Urinary tract infection (UTI) is an inflammation of the urinary tract caused by bacterial infection. Uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) is the main pathogen causing urinary tract infections, which is estimated to be more than 80% of all urinary tract infections. The incidence of urinary tract infection in women is higher than men, and there is about 40-50% chance of having urinary tract infection in a woman's life.

Currently, the treatment of urinary tract infection is the use of antibiotics, but antibiotics will kill good bacteria and bad bacteria together, resulting in the imbalance of bacterial flora in the urinary tract. Experiments have proven that PROBIO-U Complex Powder can bind to urethral epithelial cells, effectively inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacteria, and reduce the degree of inflammation. The use of probiotics against urethral infection is a safe and effective strategy.

According to experiment, NB PROBIO-U Complex Powder has a better capability in…

  • Uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) is the most common cause of urinary tract infections. The three strains of bacteria in NB PROBIO-U complex powder could strongly inhibit the survival of the three strains of urethral pathogenic E. coli (BCRC10675, BCRC15479, BCRC15585).

  • The ability of bacteria to bind to epithelial cells is one of the important factors. Experiments showed that the three strains of NB PROBIO-U Complex Powder had the ability to bind to urethral epithelial cells (SV-HUC-1), and thus could compete with urethral pathogens to bind to urethral epithelial cells, so as to reduce the growth of pathogens in urethra.

  • IL-6 is a cytokine that causes inflammation, and its level is correlated with the severity of urinary tract infection. Experimental results showed that NB PROBIO-U could significantly inhibit the release of IL-6 from urethral epithelial cells stimulated by urethral pathogenic E. coli, so as to reduce inflammation.

  • The experimental results showed that the survival rate of UPEC BCRC 10675 strain (strong ability to invade urethral epithelial cells) in urine of experimental mice was significantly reduced to 69%. Therefore, NB PROB1O-U has the function of improving urethral infections caused by UPEC.
